Remembering Steve Biko (d. 12 September 1977)
      #322105 - 13/09/05 04:53 PM

I've always considered "I Write What I Like" as the greatest book that was never written. Now and then I page through the book just to regain perspective.

Today this paragraph tugged something in me:

Quote:

The first step therefore is to make the black man come to himself; to pump back life into his empty shell; to infuse him with pride and dignity, to remind him of his complicity in the crime of allowing himself to be misused and therefore letting evil reign supreme in the country of his birth. That is what we mean by an inward-looking process. This is the definition of "Black Consciousness".

... and then I read in today's paper this damning indictment of the New South Africans and what we have done to Biko's dream.

I often wonder where his path would have led him had he lived. And what would he think of today's SA .... and where he would fit in ... and and and .... sighh.

I'm always shocked by the that he was a little more than 30 years old when he was killed. He seemed to have achieved quite a lot in his very short life.

Biko lives on Zanzie....he lives on, and on and on. The crackas may have killed him but he does live on. Solidarity. That was what he was also about. Solidarity. I'm glad though this thread does not attract attention to some of the stupedest people i have heared.
