Apart from the obvious obscenity of it all, why does someone who entertains such an emphatic hatred of European colonialism dress like white man, affect an upper class British accent, and live in a "white" mansion?
Is that Mugabe's essential psychological problem - his derangement issues from a virulent resentment at not being born white?

``We are not a British colony.``
Looking at that lot you would think you were in a British multi-millionaire`s mansion in the UK.
And people think that he and his missus are going to give all this up for a X made by a cheap ballpoint pen.

I think the OP may be on to something; this does look like Euro-envy.
I didn't dislike everything; the pool area looked nice and so did the balcony thingy.
But honestly, with his people starving.

Why is it that peasants, throughout the ages, love to see the people that rule them, living in luxury?
They line the streets to see them in all their splendour, and then go back to a meal of gruel, or pap (if they are lucky) all the time speaking about how grand the procession was, or how fine the emporer looked, or how smart Mugsey looked in his Saville row suit.

I think the Queen withdrawing his knighthood, must have hurt him more than he will ever admit.

I think Mugabe has Bongo Envy. The leader of Gabon has been in power for over 40 years and has a fortune that few in the world can match.
one of his presidential homes: Bongo of Gabon
I wish I could find some pictures of the other presidential residences, I saw two of them when in Gabon.
Quote:
Last year, French prosecutors found the Bongo family owned 33 properties in France alone, including a $27m villa. At the same time, Ali-Ben Bongo's wife, Inge, appeared on a US reality television show, Really Rich Real Estate, shopping for a $25m mansion in California.
BongoMania
It fascinates me that this bloke stays under the international radar or at least off international telly.

Mind boggling is all I can say.
And are the French complaining?
You can bet your bottom dollar they are not.
